DIVORCE & FAMILY LAW

For over 30 years Attorney Raymond has represented Husbands, Wives, Mothers, Fathers, children and even Grandparents in all matters in the Probate and Family Court.  When complete agreement cannot be reached, Attorney Raymond prepares and presents Motions for Temporary Court Orders regarding custody, parenting time, child support, alimony, payment of mortgage and other household expenses.  She advocates at Pre-Trial Conferences and litigates trials in the Probate Courts in Plymouth County (Brockton and Plymouth), Bristol County (Taunton, Fall River and New Bedford) and Norfolk County (Canton).

Attorney Raymond will personally handle each case from inception to conclusion.  Each client is assured that Attorney Raymond will make every effort to amicably resolve his or her case.

Limited Assistance Representation is available for clients with limited funds.  In such matters Attorney Raymond can provide limited services (i.e. provide advice and draft paperwork but not appear in court or appear in court for only one stage of your case).

At your initial consultation, it is helpful to bring a copy of your most recent paystub, spouse’s paystub, W-2’s and 1099s.  When possible, up to date information on the current values of bank accounts, retirement accounts, and other assets as well as mortgage balance, credit card balances and other debt is also useful.

If you plan to initiate an action against your spouse, bring a certified marriage certificate, as well.  The filing of paternity actions requires a long-form birth certificate for each child.

If someone has filed a legal action against you or if you are seeking to modify or enforce a prior judgment, please bring a copy of all related documents.

Attorney Raymond recognizes that you may not always have immediate access these documents, but if they are readily available the initial consultation is more productive, and your rights are protected as quickly as possible.

MEDIATION

MEDIATION

Mediation provides an alternative to the traditional adversarial court system and can reduce or eliminate many of the distasteful aspects of the divorce process.

In mediation, both parties (whether divorcing spouses or people on opposing sides of a matter regarding a child or a post-divorce issue) sit down in the same room with Lisa M. Raymond who serves as a neutral mediator.  The mediator does not act as a lawyer for either party, but utilizes her legal experience to assist parties in recognizing the issues to be addressed and brainstorming different options.

To maximize cooperation and jointly created solutions, you want the support of a professional who understands the negotiation process and encourages joint problem solving.

The mediator facilitates an open exchange of information and works with both parties to maximize cooperation and jointly create solutions to resolve key issues including visitation, child support, custody, alimony, and property division.  Mediation is a voluntary process.  Both parties must be willing to try.

Mediation is a promising, cost-efficient alternative to traditional divorce which allow you and your spouse or your child’s other parent to have control over the proceedings.

Mediation costs less than traditional lawsuits.

Clients are free to consult with individual lawyers at any time during the mediation process.
